Tossing out the old
Still in the midst of thinning out my possessions. Emptied well over 2 full garbage bags worth of stuff that I’d thought I really needed a few years ago. Funny, huh?
I’ve thrown out so many CD’s and cases, it’s insane. But In the midst of all that, I found a couple gems. Well, dunno about the gemmish qualities, but they’re good memories, nonetheless.
Found an Ani concert, circa later 90’s…back before I was really repulsed by 64kbps recording quality. yuck. but she is awesome, so I don’t mind that bad.
I also found a cd which was the main mix of the spring/summer of 1999 back in Burlington. Lots of Curve and Hooverphonic. Fun memories.
Went to my new apt this morning to check out the actual location of the rooms/windows etc. Talk about secluded in the midst of a complex. Plus, it’s on the north side, facing pines just 15-20 feet away, so summer heat will not be an issue. Cold? Perhaps, but hopefully the pines will block a lot of the wind from the north.
There’s an exterior storage unit (read: closet) for each apt, and mine was unlocked, so I took measurements. It’ll be interesting to try maximizing all of my available space and still attempt to keep things orderly. I figure I should start sometime, why not now?
It’s looking like some modular plastic shelving will fit inside the closet…barely. Of course, there’s some crappy door framing and drywall to contend with. Not exactly a model of precision.
I wonder if anyone would confront me if it turns out I have to yank out the sander and jigsaw to do a little trim finish work.
I’ve been spoiled at this place, where the landlords say ‘treat it like it’s your own house’.
They’ll love replacing the shower pan…that’s the part where it stops being my house. But yeah, I liked the freedom. Now I move to some corporate village, with those stupid round Honeywell thermostats. What’s worse is now I know it’s just a 30 minute job sticking in a real one. Urgh.
Oh well, maybe I’ll be a homeowner by 35.
Someone find me a cute medical professional making boku bucks who needs a Jason in her life.
Spent an hour or more deep cleaning the work Durango this evening, then took it out for a fuel-up and a car wash before I take it back to work tomorrow morning. As I drove it home, I was looking up at the moon, looking like it’s a sepia-toned oil painting. What a beautiful time.
Would have been great to share it with someone. Maybe this time next year. At least my mom is remaining the eternal optimist on my behalf.
